The Curvy Girl’s Guide to Skinny Jeans

Red Rivet Skinny Jeans

Once considered a fashion trend, skinny jeans have practically become a wardrobe staple.  I, for one, am a bit obsessed with them.  But if you thought you had to be skinny to wear skinny jeans, think again – even girls with curves, such as myself, can rock the skinnies.  Here are five tips on how:

1. It’s all about the stretch:

For the girl with curves, it’s all about the stretch; Opt for skinnies with at least 2% elastane to best accentuate and hug your curves.

2. Invest in a tailor:

Most clothes don’t fit perfectly off the rack and skinny jeans are no different.  Look for the jeans that fit best in the hips – a tailor can alter the waist as needed.

3. Heels please:

Heels always make the legs look longer and leaner, which is exactly how you want your legs to look in skinny jeans.  And honestly, what’s sexier than a pair of heels?

4. The darker the wash, the better:

Dark colors are the most slimming, thus the best option for girls with curves.  Avoid light washes or skinnies with wiskering/fading around the hips – they draw attention to the hips and make them appear wider.

5. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again:

Skinny jeans are just like regular jeans – you have to try several brands until you find the one that works best for you.
